Afternoon everyone, hope everyone’s having a GOOD Friday, I say that because it’s good Friday and also because I generally do hope you’re having a good day in general!! Let me know if that was cheesy……actually you don’t have to I already know it was. Okay so today we’re going to talk music and albums, now I wrote a post sometime last week saying that this one was up for writing, but that I wanted to do it a certain way before actually writing about it as well, to get to the point I recorded a video expressing my thoughts on one of my favorite bands The Jonas Brothers and their latest album Happiness Begins just to let you know that video is now up already.
It took me a few days though to upload it due to me having to edit it down a whole lot……it was almost 2 hours recording, an hour forty five plus to be exact……don’t worry though the hour part is no more and instead it’s now 45 mins and 43 secs, which is a HUGE difference compared to the original time……I had to pause and transfer a lot to make room on my camera which is why it was so long, also it was pretty early in the morning and so it took me a while to get through it, but that’s because I was still waking up!!!
Moving on however, I have decided that what i’m going to do for this post is have it be a little different to the video I did, expressing my thoughts on the album, the video review about it, is a bit more detailed in terms of depth explaining if that makes sense!?
So everything that’s in that video has more to it expression wise compared to the review of the album i’ll be writing about shortly!! Now what i’m going to do is, i’m going to re listen to Happiness Begins by the Jonas Brothers and see what other thoughts I have with it, i’m curious to see if any of my original thoughts I had change from what I already talked about in my video version review of it, i’m not sure if it will……
but who knows, some might change and some might actually stay the same but i’m going to try and differentiate this review post to my video review and just see if anything switches around, i’m also going to do my best to keep my thoughts short and sweet for each song I talk about so it’s not a long post and from there i’ll write some final thoughts and tell you what I thought about the album after listening to it a second time,
In the meantime while i’m re listening to the album, if you guys would like to check out my original thoughts on the album from the first listen, you can check it out here: Now Playing…..Happiness Begins by The Jonas Brothers it might take a bit to get through, I recorded it early in the morning and so I was still in the mist of waking up, but it does pick up after a while so if you do end up checking it out, just bare with me as I go through all the songs, speaking of songs, there’s 14 songs on this album and so that’s also why it takes a bit of time, but we manage to get through it!!
Alright so i’m off to re listen to my favorite band and their latest album Happiness Begins again, i’ll write my thoughts to it on a second post making this one…..part 1 so i’ll uhhh…..see you when i’ve re heard all the songs!!
I’ve been coming across this song a bit more these days, I rarely listen to it unless i’m listening to the songs off my phone and even then I don’t hear it very often, I think it only tends to come on when i’m in a low mood and that’s probably the reason it finds it’s way through my shuffle whenever i’m listening to the music on my phone and not on Spotify or Youtube…….
Even though I rarely hear it, I would still consider it a favorite of mine, all time favorite……maybe i’m not sure, but it is a song that I really like and also one that I find myself singing along to whenever I hear it, now I know Andy Grammer has a lot of songs, but I only know I believe two songs from him, this one and Honey I’m Good, for all I know though, I might’ve heard his other ones too, but haven’t realized it, but I really do like this song
It’s one of those songs where if you’re ever feeling a little doubtful with what you’re doing or with things in general, listening to this song can really help as a mood booster and give you that bit of confidence and some reassurance that regardless to how we may feel and how we think most of the time, we shouldn’t let the negatives get to us so much…….
With this song you really can appreciate the lyrics to what Andy has written here, it’s a reminder that no matter how rough things can get and no matter what we may say to ourselves and think, we should always keep our heads up and find a way to look towards the positives and just do our best to keep going, as well as trust that it’ll all be alright and will all work out in the end.
Now that all being said it’s not always easy to do those things, but as long as we try and are mindful with how we think and feel, we’ll find that it’s not always so hard, it’s just the knowing and awareness of it, as well as allowing ourselves to be okay and accept that everything is process and whatever progress we make big or small, everything will turn out alright, we just have to do our best to keep going and keep our heads from looking towards the ground too much, it may take some reminding, but know that’s okay!!
Here’s the song if you guys want to listen to it: Keep Your Head Up By Andy Grammer it’s an old song, but it’s still pretty darn good if you ask me……I hope all of you all are having a good weekend and are all well!!
If you guys don’t already know, i’ve been pretty into the Canadian show Degrassi, it’s one of my favorite shows to watch actually, not only are the topics on that show always great and interesting to see, but believe it or not, Degrassi has some pretty great songs to it as well!!
I’m always intrigued with the way the songs come out, most of them sound very good and the people singing the songs, they make you believe that they themselves have written them, but obviously it’s not always like that, but the way they perform it will have you thinking that it’s an original song.
I always find the writing of the songs they have for the characters who are meant to be singing them to be pretty fascinating, one of my favorites is the song My Window by Jake Epstein who play Craig Manning on the show for a good few seasons, i’m not really sure what it is about the song, but it’s just really good, Jake’s vocal’s are pretty damn amazing in this song, I can’t really describe his voice, but what I can say is, it’s very unique……
The way he performs My window is just something of it’s own and when you listen to the song, the words, the lyrics to it is just……I can’t seem to get a wording on it properly at the moment, but it’s just so, let’s just to say you really feel it……but again Jake’s vocals with the songs is amazing here!!
As we all know everyone has their own voice when they sing, some are powerhouses, some more soulful and others just have their own category that they naturally add themselves in and Jake Epstein is one of those that is just in his own realm when he sings, it really is hard for me to put him some place and maybe he doesn’t need to be in a specific place, sure there are probably other artists that are pretty similar to him in other ways,
but Jake alone just has this very indescribable unique style to him that you just can’t seem to help, but admire and with way he brings you the song, even if you can’t really get an exact idea on where exactly to put him, you still feel it, sometimes you can’t quite put your finger on something, but you still have a feel to it in someway you know!? My window to me is a really great song, I was actually trying to look up the meaning of it, but I can’t seem to get it at the moment even when looking at the lyrics to it……..
Again I don’t know what it is, but there’s just something to this song as well as Jake Epstein’s performance of it that makes me want to re listen to it every time, it might take a good few listens just to really truly understand the meaning behind it and to be honest, I don’t really mind it……
Good Morning to all and a Happy Sunday as well, hope you guys are having a good one and are enjoying your morning or had a good morning to those whose time is towards the afternoon or night already, time zones sure are interesting aren’t they!? Also don’t mind me, I woke up a little earlier than my alarm today, around 7:30am to be exact, it’s around 8:30am ish as i’m writing this, not sure why I got up so early, although i’m not complaining,
You find that you become a little more energized the earlier you get up so it’s fine!! Now that, that’s been shared, let’s talk about something we haven’t talked about in a very looong time, music!!
So I woke up singing this song to myself, not sure why it’s been playing in my head since i’ve been up, I just heard this song for the very first time in a long time yesterday and I gotta say it’s still a good one and i’d say one of my favorites, ayyye why not!? (might’ve spelt that wrong, but that’s okay) again though i’m not sure why it’s in my head, I went to look it up, because sometimes if a song gets stuck in your head, you can always look up the lyrics to see the meaning behind it and sometimes by doing that,
You find there’s a hidden message within the song for you to come across, however the only thing behind the song that I found is that, it’s a love song aaaaand that it was actually released today!! How weird is that!? The one time I have a song stuck in my head and happen to look it up to see the meaning behind it, turns out that the release date of it happen to be the same day it entered my brain, ain’t that something!? No, but seriously that’s a bit mad, although when it comes to coincidences, there is none.
Now I only know two songs from EchoSmith, this song the one i’m talking about which is called Bright and Cool Kids, both songs I actually like!! There’s not much else I can say, I don’t really know much about the band, apart from the exception of their two songs that i’ve heard from them,
So I can’t really say my thoughts about them, but I like their songs, even though I only know two of them……as for the main song we’re talking about here though, how crazy is it that, it came out 5 years ago today and on the same day ended up stuck in my head…..!? I don’t even have words to say right now, except for that’s mad and insane which are pretty much the same thing, but congratulations to Echosmith for reaching 5 years with their song Bright today, even if I had no idea until now about it!!
I’m not sure if their still making music, but i’m sure they’re like “can you believe it’s been 5 years since making and releasing this song” or something like that anyway, maybe they actually haven’t thought about it yet,
I’m not really sure, but either way it’s still pretty big when you hit a new target mark on something each year after it’s been released so, again congratulations to Echosmith on the anniversary of “Bright” and also thank you for having such a catchy song to share, luckily it’s a good one so, I don’t mind it being played repetitively in my head!!
P.S.By the way I looked it up, they are still making music and are actually going on a tour soon this year, not sure if the tour already started or if it’s coming up shortly, but for those who are fans of Echosmith and are interested, I thought you’d like to know!!
I guess we’re having a PVRIS theme today, because I can not get their songs out of my head, this morning when making toast and coffee I was singing they’re song Holy to myself and now i’m finding myself humming to their song What’s Wrong…..so with that, looks like i’ll be writing about them today, lucky they recently came out with a new single, so I think i’ll take upon this opportunity to give my thoughts on it and talk about them a bit.
Now just to give you guys a heads up, I kinda already went and listened to the song this past Sunday night and wrote down my thoughts to it in one of my journals as I was listening to it, so this is going to be one of those song review kind of posts, everything that I wrote down in my journal,
Majority of those notes and thoughts will be in this post, I might change some stuff as i’m going along that I hadn’t written down already, adding stuff to it and maybe changing certain things as well, I don’t know, but as i’m writing, it should come together, but yeah just a heads up on that!!
I won’t stall anymore, kidding that was just an introduction, but on to my thoughts and reaction to the song, in written form…..hope this works…..
Quick Note:It took me 3 weeks, after the release of the song just to listen to it, again 3 weeks!! I waited to hear this, yeah……alright….
Review starting in 3…2…1….LET’S GO!!
Song starts: We’re in the beginning of the song and I didn’t expect it to start off as a dance song…..a bit confusing, knowing how a PVRIS song is, I wouldn’t have expected it to have this kind of groove to it…….i’m intrigued with it though so far…..(reaction 21 seconds into the song)
Went back to the beginning to re listen properly, because the start of the song reminded me of their other song Holy from their album White Noise, listen to the start of it carefully, it’s in the kick of the drum to where it sorta sounds like it, but after a while you start to hear it come into it’s own sound, it’s pretty cool, it’s like a good memory……(reaction 1 second into the song, going back to the beginning)
Quick Journal Note:I think at this point I paused it, because in my journal I wrote nervous yet excited as I was listening to the song and I was……then I talked about how I haven’t heard any of the Jonas Brothers new songs yet,
Mind you they’re one of my favorite bands that I grew up on and their songs have been out for a good few months now, so you’d think that’d be the first band i’d listen to……nope I went and checked out PVRIS new song instead of theirs, that came out 3 weeks ago……priorities!!
Don’t worry I already decided that i’m going to be listening to them finally sometimes this week, maybe Friday so everyone calm down, relax it’s cool!!
Back to the song……I had to re look at my notes to figure out if I was in the beginning or middle of the song, it’s still the beginning because I went back before…..(reaction 26 seconds into the song) liking the lyrics so far, normally I tend to focus on the lyrics to a song, because it’s the part that I feel draws you in, but with this song, my focus is on the rhythm and beat of it, which is new……it’s good though…..we’re at the chorus now and THERE GOES PVRIS!!
I knew the PVRIS usual style would kick in at some point, it only took close to a minute in…..which is fine i’m not saying that’s wrong. (reaction 56 seconds into the song) I like the second verse line of the chorus “One man’s hell is another’s god, it’s all about perspective or parallax.”
Their writing style continues to get me, like seriously how do they do it!? I don’t know (reaction 1.27 seconds into the song) like the bridge part, real groovy, I really like the build up towards the next lines involving the chorus it just comes in nicely, love it!!
From this point I didn’t really write anything else about the song, because it had finished, I did write my overall thoughts to the song though, which I will share in a moment, right abooout……..NOW!!
OKAY, my overall and final thoughts of the song…..I didn’t like it…..no i’m kidding, my whole written reaction would literally counter me saying that…
Final Thoughts:I liked it!! I mean it, I have no bad words to say on it, was it different to what i’m used to or was expecting from PVRIS!?
Hell yeah, but it’s still good!! Now that being said I know a lot of people may not feel the same way and not like it as much or maybe they will who knows, my thoughts on the song however is that I genuinely enjoyed it very much, again it wasn’t what I was expecting, but it still worked for me,
I liked that they went more dance with this, but still gave us the usual PVRIS style edge that they have to them. Every time I hear a PVRIS song it always amazes me, because they’re just great, the way they put things together when it comes to their music is fascinating, I can’t explain it…..I just love them!! I thought the lyrics were great, Lynn’s voice is always great!!
It was actually very interesting the way she decided to go about singing this song, a lot of people, including myself, expected to hear that intensity power that she normally, not always, but most times has to her voice, you know that aggressiveness that you would normally hear from her, however we didn’t hear that style to her voice in this, which again was very interesting….
Her soft voice though too is lovely, I wasn’t expecting her to keep her voice in the middle though and when I say middle, I mean as leveled as she had it, but it was nice, I really enjoyed it!!
To me I still think she does give us that soft and intense voice in the song, it’s just not as fully turned up to how she normally would have it which is nice, I like that she did it differently this time around, it doesn’t always have to be fully on, it can be evened out at times and even if this song was full on, it would still be great, because PVRIS is great!!
However way Lynn decides to sing her songs, doesn’t really matter to me because i’m going to enjoy it either way……you know, I don’t think i’ve heard a PVRIS song I didn’t like……hopefully it stays that way, but if it ever came down to the point where I came across a bad PVRIS song…..i’d express it, but so far they’re songs have been pretty good and i’ve enjoyed each one, but yeah those are my thoughts for PVRIS’s new single Death Of Me!!
Now I did write something on their music video as well, after I listened to the song, but I don’t think it’s really that interesting so I think i’m going to leave it out of this post, I might post my actual notes from my journal about the song and music video later, probably on my social media…..maybe, we’ll see, but that’s all my thoughts on the song.
Definitely go and have a listen to their new single, it is pretty catchy, the groove to it is really great as well and I think some of you might enjoy it, maybe not all, but some of you might who knows……i’ll leave it just in case you’re curious and want to it hear it: Death Of Me (Lyric Video)
Be sure to go and watch the music video for it as well, PVRIS tend to have a way with their music videos, there’s always some kind of special meaning behind it, to where, I wouldn’t even begin to be able to tell you it…..it’s something you’ll have to see yourself to figure out and come up with your own interpretations for, I couldn’t come up with anything, but it was very interesting i’ll tell you that, but I liked it!! Death Of Me (Music Video)
If you’re wondering the best way to listen to the song, I would suggest, watching the lyric video for it first so you can follow the lyrics and then go and watch the music video after, so you can see how it works with the song and maybe try to interpret the meaning behind it, that’s how I did it, but you could listen to it any way you want really, it’s just a suggestion.
I hope you’re all having a good day and doing alright and I hope you guys enjoy the song and music video, thanks for reading!! ^_^
Here I have a song that I haven’t heard for a good while, i’ve just recently started listening to it again, i’ve listened to it today actually, it’s still as good as I remember…..the song that i’m talking about is called Whatever Love Means and it’s performed by a UK band by the name of Lux Lisbon.
Now i’ve been a fan of theirs as well as their music for quite some time, although it’s been a good while since i’ve last checked them out and heard any of their new material, which I probably should look into, I mean it’s been a long time since i’ve kept up to date with them…….
They’re a really good band these guys, they’re not really well known not globally anyway, i’m sure they’re well known in their hometown and that, but even though they aren’t that big, they still are very talented!!
They have a whole lot of great songs, such as Demons You Show, Memento Mori, Bullingdon Club and so many others…..Whatever Love Means has got to be one of my all time favorites from them (along with Demons You Show and Memento Mori) I really admire the way they write their songs, it’s like nothing i’ve ever heard before……
I know that i’m always talking about writing styles, especially when it comes to music (it’s my favorite to talk about) it’s just amazing when you’re listening to a song and you get to listen and hear the way it’s come along and analyze the different writing ways of an artist.
With Lux Lisbon the way they write their music is definitely worth admiring, I can’t quite describe their writing style, each song that they give us is different to the last, it’s amazing really!!
Whatever Love Means, is one of those songs that talks upon the topic of relationships and giving it a chance, even though you’re not sure of the way it could go, you’ll also hear in the song Stu (lead vocalist of the band)
Sing about trying to hold in the feelings of when you know you’re feeling something stronger when it comes to liking someone, but not being able to express those feeling due to the words unable to find themselves, so even though you know you’re feeling strong feelings, you would rather pretend it doesn’t mean anything then have to let your true feelings out, that’s my take on the song anyway, I could be completely off for all I know……
Although the lines to the lyrics “Come on words don’t fail me, cut off my tongue and hurt like hell” and the lines “Words are so cheap, they just cut so goddamn easily”makes me think it could be that,
However there’s also the lines “Take out your heart and see a hole in your soul where it used to be” that part of the song makes me think that it’s the opposite to what I think the song is about……
This song I know is on relationships, but the way it’s written can make you think of it in different ways, meaning wise……i’m actually getting the sense right now that the meaning to it could also be about actions speaking louder than words, if that’s the case the lines “Words are so cheap, they just cut so goddamn easily” makes much more sense, either way, the songs great,
I would definitely recommend giving it a listen, it’s a really good song and the bands pretty great too!! I think the best thing about Lux Lisbon is the way they bring their voices together, the female vocalist (which I had to go and find her name) Charlie is her name, I like her voice, i’d have her in the category of unique voices, it’s not overly strong, but it’s still great!!
The way Lux Lisbon’s vocals combine with one another is pretty amazing, it really does work well, getting to hear not just their music, but also just the way they work well vocally and they way they write their songs……it’s a treat, a very well done kind of treat. Here’s the song if you’re interested in checking them out: Whatever Love Means By Lux Lisbon.
I’ll have to check out their latest songs soon, i’m sure i’ve missed some, i’m interested to see, well hear, what they’re going to be like, i’ll get back to you and let you know my thoughts once i’ve found out……in the meantime,
I’ll leave some of their other songs that i’ve mentioned, in case you like this one and want to check out their other ones, if you have a different interpretation on what you think the song could be about, feel free to leave a comment and let me know what you think of the song as well ^_^
Last weekend, I decided to give some stuff a listen…..some of my favorite artists came out with some music recently that I hadn’t heard yet and since it’s been a while, I thought i’d check out one of their songs.
The song that i’ll be discussing today is called Weight and it’s by one of my all time favorites artists Alexz Johnson, Weight came out two weeks ago well sorta……the song technically came out a few years ago, but only recently officially released this year (try saying that line 5 times ha)
I knew about the song, but I had never heard it before until recently, although it’s the same song that she wrote all those years ago…….she did make a couple of changes to it, so even though it’s the same, it’s also pretty different at the same time.
Now before you even say it, I know a lot of you won’t know who she is and that’s because she’s not really popularly well known…..she’s an independent artist, a Canadian American artist, she’s also an actress, she’s been in a few shows as well as some movies that you might’ve seen or heard about, but this could also be the first time you’ve ever heard about them too.
You might know her from the movie Final Destination 3 or you might’ve seen her on her popular (well i’d like to think of it as popular) show called Instant Star (one of my all time favorite shows might I add) it was featured on then network The N (now known as TeenNick) along with shows like Degrassi (The Next Generation) Radio Free Roscoe and a few other ones.
You should definitely check out Instant Star, it’s a good one and i’m not just saying that because it’s my favorite show…….alright I am a little, but it’s a really good show and I think some of you might enjoy it, feel free to check out the other shows and movies too.
Although she is an actress, she mainly focuses on her music the most and believe me when I tell you she’s amazing!! I actually had the pleasure of meeting her not once, but twice when I attended two different live shows of hers, the first time was back in 2013 and the second meet was about 2 years ago in 2017, both times were great getting to meet her, she’s a lovely human being, down to earth, good sense of humor and just all around great!!
Without further ado, let’s get to this song of hers shall we!? Now I could go on and review it, as well as interpret the song, but in all honesty i’ve never once thought to review an Alexz Johnson song and i’ve never felt the need to try to interpret her songs before either, I always felt they spoke for themselves when listening to them.
I mean who knows maybe one day i’ll sit down and try to break down the lyrics to her songs, but for now we’re just going to talk about it, in the best way that I can explain it. Before I listened to Weight, I gotta be honest, I was nervous……not like bad nervous, more on the excited side of town, I wasn’t sure what to expect of it and that’s why I was nervous about it.
For those of you who don’t know, Alexz last album A Stranger Time, released almost 2 years ago (it’ll be 2 years come this September) and so it’s been a while since hearing anything new from her…….when I found out about Weight, I was caught off guard, I didn’t even know she was writing new stuff. It wasn’t until I went on one of my social medias to see her counting down to the release of the song to know about it, although I didn’t hear it on the release day, I was still buzzing to hear it!!
When I actually heard the song I thought i’d be a little calm listening to it, but the minute I hit the play button and heard her voice, I stopped it immediately……..I needed to get myself in order first before continuing on with the song, well I tried to continue on listening in a calmly fashion, it didn’t quite work out that way though…….I mean I was semi calm, but had some enthusiasm added to that calmness, but tell me how else do you react when one of your favorite artists releases a new song unexpectedly!?
Exactly, you react accordingly and by accordingly I mean how ever you feel that emotion to be during the moment and that was mine in the moment.
I also had the biggest smile on my face when listening to the song, even though I had no idea how I was going to write about it, once it had finished. Alexz never disappoints me with her music, even if there’s a song that i’m not too fond of, i’m still not disappointed with it……her music is just incredible and I think she’s uniquely wonderful!!
With that said, I don’t know if this will sound weird, but the way she speaks is the way she sings, that might sound confusing so i’ll try and explain, you know when you’re listening to an artist and you hear them talk and from the way they speak you wouldn’t think that their singing voice would be any different, but then you hear them sing something and you’re like “That voice did not just come out of you!? No way I would’ve never guessed!!”
That’s what I mean, but with Alexz, her voice is both so simple, yet so outstandingly out of this world at the same time, the power she has with it and the way she uses it with her music…….I love it!! She’s just really amazing, I got chills listening to her hit a high note towards the bridge of the song, that’s how good she is!!
Also yes I know anyone can give you chills with their singing, but there’s always that special one that is very different from the rest and gives you that special kind of feeling and Alexz is one of those people to me.
Whether it’s with her voice, her writing style, just everything, she’s just really incredible all around and with this song, well with any Alexz Johnson song really, in my opinion anyway, you can’t help, but want to listen to it and really take everything in that you’re listening to…….be it because of the lyrics or her voice, she leaves you without words and just makes you feel you know!?
I played the song more than once within the same night, so I can say I know a pretty good amount of the chorus now and other parts to the song too.
Now there’s other versions to the song Weight performed by Alexz Johnson herself of course, where she sings it in different ways, adding different things to it as well. In the original her voice is a little younger, but not too young, my first thought about it was that it sounded like a song that would’ve fit very well on her show Instant Star…..
Well the original one would’ve i’d say probably between the 3rd-4th season, but had there been a 5th season I think the newer version would go well, if you listen to it and you know the show you’d think so too.
In the original you’ll also hear a xylophone in the background, there’s other versions where you’ll still hear it, but there will be a few tweaks to it here and there each time you listen to it with the way her singing style is, the different instruments added to it and just the different transformations it went through to be what it is now.
The lyrics to the song changes a little as well and the arrangement of the song sorta changes too, there’s a lot of different changes you’ll notice when listening to it…….In the new version of what Weight came to be, the first thing you’ll notice is that the Xylophone was removed from the song completely, i’m not sure why though, I personally thought it gave the song some character and was quite nice in the background…..
However I could also understand why maybe she felt the need to remove it…….she might’ve thought at that time it went well with it, but once she re listened to it, she thought to herself “it’s good, but it could be better”or she most likely felt a recreation to it would do it a lot more justice.
That’s probably why we have all these different versions of it, maybe throughout the process of wanting to release the song in someway, she was trying to work out the right sound for it…..it took a decade for this song to be released officially and i’m sure now that we’ve got it, Alexz is very proud with the way it turned out, plus she got to release it her way and i’m pretty sure that’s a bonus in her book.
The sound and feel that Weight has to it now, I believe, that was the sound we were meant to hear, even though we’ve already heard the original version to it, what it turned out to be was what we were supposed to get from it and what we got turned out to be quite amazing, now we can listen to it as freely as we like without any worries!!
Final Thoughts:If you were to ask me whether I prefer the Original or the newer version of Weight, i’d say although I really did like the Xylophone in the background of the original…….
I would say the newer version of Weight takes the cake!! I really like the arrangement of the song and the style she chose to sing with this version, I think you feel the song more and I feel it’s actually quite better this way, because you get to hear the growth to it each time you listen to it from the other versions and then to this one and I think that’s great!! It’s like you’re walking through the process of it and getting to see the progress and journey of it as well and that’s something you don’t see nor hear too often.
I really do admire Alexz Johnson, i’ve been a fan of hers since her Instant Star days and have kept up with her since then and i’m just real glad to be a fan of hers and to be able to get to listen to these incredible songs that she creates, I can’t wait to hear what else she’s got coming along!! I’m sure it’s going to be something and I mean that in the best way possible.
If you haven’t heard any of her songs I would highly recommend giving them a listen, I don’t normally share her music with people because she’s a special one to me, but i’ll add you guys as an exception haha……
If you guys are interested in giving both versions a listen i’ll leave it for you, feel free to share your thoughts on the song and let me know which version you prefer!!
Now before you ask, I just want to let you know that i’m actually having a pretty good night, although i’m super tired, but I needed to write a blog post because I didn’t yesterday, so if I have to stay up until midnight or even later I will, if it means posting something new, it’s only 11pm at the moment, but it is close to midnight and I normally try and fall asleep around that time so i’m hoping I don’t make this blog post a long one.
The reason for this title here, is because I just listened to Ashley Tisdale’s new single Voices In My Head and I loved it!! Now a lot of you might know of her and a lot of you might not, but that’s okay no worries, i’ll tell you a bit on her, like for one, she’s mainly known as an actress, you might’ve heard of the movie called High School Musical……yeah Ashley plays the character Sharpay Evans, she also starred in Suite Life Of Zack And Cody, she had her own spin off after High School Musical called Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventure, so she’s pretty much apart of the Disney Channel circle, well she was.
She’s been in a whole lot of other movies, she also I believe directed and guested starred on a show called Young & Hungry, which i’ve watched, but haven’t finished watching so I have to catch up, even though I think the show finished already so I think I just have to watch it, but yeah Ashley’s known, but I don’t think she’s super big, but she’s known.
Anyway back to the song, which again is great, really great……..well to me anyway, I don’t know if you guys are gonna like it, but if you want to hear it, i’ve added it for you if you’re interested, I loved it though, had a big smile on my face while listening to it. I only heard it once, buuut once is enough to get me to like it and it’s Ashley of course i’m gonna love it!!! I’ve been waiting for new music from her for soooo long and finally she’s released a new single, how amazing is that!!? Okay caaaalm…….caaalm…….alrighty, okay.
Like I was saying, Ashley’s great and her voice is great as well, now her voice isn’t like everyone else’s, but I still find it to be very unique, it’s not like super powerful, but I find her voice is still very lovely. Now although a lot of people know her as more of an actress and of course a lot of people know that she has a voice on her because of High School Musical, what a lot of people don’t know is Ashley did and does music as well, besides her singing and starring in High School Music (1, 2 & 3) She actually had two pretty good albums (in my opinion).
Her first album being Headstrong, which is a classic and one of my favorite albums to go back and listen to, whenever I want to relive part of my young years (i’m not that old don’t worry, still young) I still have that album til this day actually (there’s a story on the first time I owned it, but I won’t bore you guys with that one…….I hope i’m not boring you guys now) Headstrong released back in 2007 and her other album Guilty Pleasure released back in 2009, was also pretty good. That album, i’d say was a little bit more on the mature side, more than headstrong was, but I liked that it didn’t go too overboard, however I still would say that it was mature for it’s time, just when it comes to certain songs, but it wasn’t like super bad on the mature scale, which is good.
Both albums we’re great, I loved them, like I said not only do I have Headstrong, but I also own Guilty Pleasure too, I was a pretty big fan of Ashley, not like super, but a big fan, you know sometimes you have those artists that you love and then you have your all times favorites. Ashley Tisdale is on my favorite artist lists, so there’s all time favorites, favorites, artists you like and then you have the “ahhh their alright” kinda artist. You know what i’m talking about…….and if you don’t, well then don’t mind me, i’m just in a really good mood and have this crazy amount of energy for some reason and decided to write my blog post for tonight all about Ashley Tisdale and you know what I don’t regret it, because this is actually the first blog post where I knew everything I was gonna write.
Probably my quickest one too, I started this close to 11:30pm and it’s around 12:30am midnight at the moment and that may seem like a long time to you guys to write on a post, buuut for me, it’s not, I normally take longer and that includes on shorter posts then this. I don’t really have much else to say, although it’s practically 1am……update it’s now around 1:30am as i’m finishing this so i’m just gonna leave this post here and get some sleep now………I hope you all have a great night/morning and or evening.
Okay so, i’m not quite sure how long this post is gonna be, i’m hoping it’s not too long though, but we’ll see. I wasn’t quite sure what to write about today, I kinda sat looking at my computer and all around my room, trying to think and so I just went with whatever was in my head the most which so happened to be a song by one of my favorite bands, that I constantly mention I know, but for some reason I woke up with the song in my head so I thought let’s talk about the song and you know see what it’s about, shall we!?
So as you can see from the title the song that we will be touching upon today is called same soul and it’s by PVRIS (the band that never seems to leave my mouth, not that I mind, I don’t know if you guys do though…..hope not) anyway same soul I feel is a pretty self explanatory kind of song, however I also know that some people might have a different perspective as well as a different interpretation of the song which is cool because all songs with meaning always tend to leave you wondering what the song is about, especially when you have songs that are hard to get right away.
Here are the lyrics of the song Same Soul from the first verse to the chorus:
[Pre-Chorus] I could have walked by you a thousand times Different places, different lives I could have been someone you don’t recognize Different figure, new design
[Chorus] I’m just a body that you used to know I’m just somebody that you used to know I’m just a body that you used to know Used to know, used to know, used to know
So as you can see, pretty self explanatory right!? Lynn Gunn the front singer of PVRIS talks about possibly meeting someone more than once to what we know, if that makes sense, just to explain it a bit more, in this she talks past lives pretty much. Now some may say that past lives isn’t really a thing, while others would most likely, maybe disagree, if you’re asking me whether I believe in the whole past lives topic, I would say that I wouldn’t completely rule it out. I mean don’t you guys ever wonder why sometimes we connect to people right away and why it is that some people we encounter can seem familiar to us!? It’s that feeling where you bump into someone and you just have this strange connection to right away, but you know even know each others names yet!?
In this song, I feel it relates to past lives, even Lynn herself talked upon past lives in a podcast. Having that thought and feeling as though you could have possibly met someone before, it really gets you thinking………a lot of us don’t really think on whether or not we had multiple lives before hand, apart from the one we are living now, I think that some of us or maybe even all of us had, however some of us can recall it very vividly then most of us, which is pretty interesting if you think about it.
Here’s the second verse and the pre chorus:
[Verse 2] Where did your heart stay in all those years away? Did I make your body shake? Could you feel me riding through the airwaves? In all those yesterdays were you always hiding below? No, I didn’t know
This song definitely hints at being about past lives here, especially when she sings the lines of the pre-chorus, talking about loving the same person more than once and trying to recognize that person as they are now (I think we loved a thousand lives, I try to find you every time) she even sings the lines: Do you remember my old names!? Recognize my other face!? which to me SCREAMS THIS SONG IS ABOUT PAST LIVES…..ehm…sorry about that.
Now after looking at the lyrics again, I came to the thought, that maybe it’s not about past lives entirely, some parts could also be seen as maybe knowing someone from childhood, but then either you move away or they move away as kids and then one day you end up bumping into them again, but you don’t really quite recognize them at first, but once you really start to get to know them, that’s when it all comes back to you, you know them and are familiar with them because you use to be friends before.
You both see now though how much you as people, have changed since that time, so it’s kinda like you’re having a conversation with them, asking them whether they still remember that version of you, before you both grew up to be the new versions of who you are now, if that makes any sense at all, I really hope that did, I was trying so hard to word all that right as best as I could. Like I said earlier this song could be interpreted in a lot of different ways, but I feel this song is leading a whole lot toward it being about past lives, but that’s just my interpretation on it. I have no idea why I woke up to that song in my head, but hey it gave me the idea to write a blog post on this soooo, i’m happy.
Now I don’t know about you guys, but I actually felt this post to be a whole lot challenging to write about then my other posts. I didn’t think i’d ever come across the thought to write upon topics like this, although I always sometimes think about this topic and other topics of course, this is the first one to where I felt I wanted to put my thought on, but although it was challenging, I actually enjoyed writing about it because these are the kind of things that can get you really thinking, which is good if it’s stuff like this.
What was your most challenging blog post to write about, if you too had an experience like that and what’s your interpretation on the song that I just covered!? Do you believe in past lives, do you think that the only life we have is the one we’re living!? Feel free to share your thoughts if you like, I hope you all have a goodnight/morning and or evening.
If you guys are interested in hearing the song so that you can get a better interpretation on it or you just want to listen to it, you can listen to it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BmweQs1-XH8
