This song might be one of the hardest songs to at least try and come up with an opening for! Hope you all are having a nice Wednesday….my Wednesday is a bit all over the place, I had a bit of a sleepless night yesterday so I’m not entirely well rested, but I got a bit of sleep….and I say that because I’m writing this post at the current moment so my mind focus is half way there today which I can deal with!
I’m not really sure how many of you remember this beautiful tune let alone have even heard of it, if you haven’t listen to 7 years By Lucas Graham, I would definitely recommend it, the storytelling within this song will have you in tears and leave you with chills and if it doesn’t I still think that you will feel something with it, I mean I’ve just recently came back to this tune, like I have always know it to be around and there with all the other songs I half and half listen to on my Spotify, but before I could never listen to it often because of how moving and deep it was!
Anytime it would come on, I would skip it, not because I didn’t like it! I love 7 years like I said it’s one of Lucas Grahams best songs that he released, although I don’t listen to a lot of his stuff, I still truly appreciate it for what it is and how deep he was willing to go with the lyrics, but I always had to skip this one and the reason is because I honestly didn’t want to cry every time I heard it! I listened to this song TWICE yesterday and both times I had tears coming down my face as nerdy as that sounds, but I’ll admit it, I can’t help myself when I hear good music and to me 7 years is good music!
It’s like that with a few songs truthfully, but we’ll just keep on the topic here, I don’t know what it is about this song, it really gives you mixed emotions in a sense of you hear it and you can’t help, but to hear it more than once to really take in the lyrics, however you also don’t want to listen to it, because of how well it pulls at your emotions and gets you to really think and understand the perspective he was singing from.
It leaves you feeling as though with each lyric…..it’s not just a personal thing for him, but it feels like a personal thing to you as well, there’s a lot that is relatable about the song which is why you would feel it deep within the soul and core of yourself! It’s funny because, it was this year that this song sorta came back to me, it was when I went to PR for the first time and I heard it on the radio and as much as I wanted to skip it, I could not so I had to listen to it, after that trip though, I hadn’t heard it for a few months, until around maybe mid November I want to say to….I stop listening to music for a bit on Spotify and literally yesterday I heard it again…..
It’s actually pretty fitting for the season seeing that it was released during the month of December and if you really take it in and feel it, you’ll notice how it’s about reflection and what season do we do the most reflecting!? Winter, why!? Well the reason to that is due to the fact that it gets closer to the end of the year and so we tend to recollect every thought, every moment and just everything in general because that’s our way of getting ready for the new year to come and it’s for that reason alone that when you hear this song, you feel the winter atmosphere within it!
It’s cold and not in a heartless way, but in a way of just allowing our minds to wander and ponder about all these unknowing feelings that we kept in for so long, as well as some feelings we didn’t even know we had lingering inside of us until they decided to surface…..and it’s songs like 7 years that really gets you to do some of your own self reflection and understand certain situations better, understand your own or other people’s emotions and all that jazz! It can also help to force out anything that you felt yourself bottle up for a while,
Afraid of sharing what it is what you may have been truly feeling…7 years to me is literally what a sleepless night feels like…..not being able to rest, because you’ve got a million and 5 thoughts coming at you all at once where you feel you won’t be able to sleep until your brain is done getting rid of all those backed up junk mail that we just keep storing away up until it’s time to sort through them always on the days that you may not really want to if I’m being honest….I still feel I have more to say with this song, I don’t know how much more really, but all I know is…..I feel there’s more I would like to add giving my thoughts on the song, I’ll stop here and if I have any other feeling on it, I’ll write it down and share them, maybe as an upcoming episode or video…..if not then I’ll just part 2 it as a blog post….we’ll see how it goes!
If you’re interested in checking out the song, I’ll share the link to it for you guys! That’s everything for now, I hope you all have a good rest of the day, take care, stay safe and I’ll see you soon!
Good Afternoon Everyone! Hope that you all are having a very good day today! We’re getting closer to the end of the week, one more day before we reach the weekend, which also means we’re nearing Halloween! I’m not really sure if I’m super excited for Halloween, but I’m not seeming to mind it this year, normally I just wait for it to bypass, but this year is different! I’ve been feeling pretty inspired this season and so I feel that could be the reason that I’ve been okay with October this year! Now I feel like I might’ve already said this, but I’ll say it again for anyone that may be new or just haven’t heard me say it before….now like I just stated this month I’ve been feeling oddly inspired and with October being the month that we’re in, I’ve been trying to attempt to theme out my blog posts as well as my podcast episodes!
So far I feel I’ve done more blog posts then podcast episodes when it comes to things that remind me of Halloween! I’ll get back to podcasting soon and see if I’ll be able to throw in a few ideas involving Halloween themed topics before the month ends officially, for now I want to talk about a specific artist that is a little out of comfort for me, although I do listen to her often, to explain the kind of music that she does is a little hard to do, especially since she’s from a whole other country, but I will give it a try and see if I’d be able to properly explain everything in the best way I know how!
I actually did record an episode about this artist recently, but I didn’t quite like the way it came out, I was very nervous and also didn’t feel like I did it justice to how I wanted it to come out, so I most liking will be redoing that episode probably tomorrow for Saturday and see if I can get it to come out better! I want to be able to present it in the best way that I’m able to, in my own words of course, because that’s how good I feel she is, so stay tune for that one!
This post is going to be a bit of an introduction kind of post, I don’t know how well it will be, but I shall do my best with it and hope that it goes well….so today I would like to introduce you all to Lady Leshurr, if you’re not quite familiar with her, which I feel most people won’t be at least those who are from the US mainly….although there might be some out there who are from the US that have come across her and listen to her like I do, if so then you’ll know who I’m talking about! For the new people though…..Lady Leshurr is a UK Grime artist, so an MC rapper, she also sings too, but she’s mostly known for the way she freestyles on the mic, It’s the best way I can explain it.
Now if you’re asking what is Grime!? That’s a whole other thing, but to specify a little on it to how I can describe it….Grime music is pretty much just like our rap music, but better! At least I think it to be better anyway, this coming from someone who normally doesn’t choose rap as her go to kind of music, I’m sure I’ve already said this, but I’m not actually that big of a fan of rap, however I do listen to it at times, it just depends on the artist really for me! Although I have specific music genre’s that I like, I’m pretty open minded to music so I’ll listen to anything as long as it’s good and as long as I feel something with it…back to Lady Lesh though….like I said she is an amazing female Grime artist, I can’t even begin to express how great she is!
I’ve been listening to her for quite some time now and let me tell you she’s just something else!! Her style in the way she does music is on a whole other level and to explain it to you guys, I feel like I wouldn’t be able to do it properly! When it comes to Grime music I’ll be the first to say that I’m inexperience I’ll be honest, even though I’ve heard a few artists within the Grime scene, I’m the wrong person to sit here and try and give you my in depth thoughts of it…..all I can say is with Grime you get a whole different experience, but it’s so worth it! and with Lady Leshurr, you definitely get an experience!
She’s the kind of artist that will always leave you blown away! The way she is when it comes to her music, it’s like with her, it’s not always serious, but it is serious at the same time….it’s hard to explain so I don’t know if I’m makes sense here, but it’s the truth! I’ve never heard anyone like her before, she’s weird in the best way possible and I love that about her, I think that’s why she’s one of my favorite artists to listen to, because she’s got such a uniqueness to her that you can’t ignore and if you try to ignore her, she’s the kind of person that she’ll make sure you notice her to where you won’t be able to ignore her again, I love it!
Like I said she’s on a whole other level…..
One thing you’ll notice with her is when you hear her songs, most of the time she’s just joking, however there may be some hidden truths within them I won’t lie to you, sometimes it’s hard to differentiate, but they’re not always meant to be taken seriously, it’s just Lady Leshurr, being Lady Leshurr! Now that being said that doesn’t mean that she won’t tell you how it it, if she’s got to tell you straight trust and believe she will and when she does you won’t be able to say much about it, that’s how good she is and that’s the other reason why I prefer Grime music over our kind of rap, because they all are like that at least some of the artists that I’ve listened to from the Grime scene so far!
They will be extremely real with you and will speak the truth always…..it’s not just with their songs, It’s what they stand for and who they are and when it comes to music that’s what I like! I like listening to music that speaks something real, music that has meaning where you feel it….I don’t know how else to explain it, but I’ve grown to really enjoy and embrace what Grime music is, I respect what it is they do!
When it comes to Lady Leshurr, I’ve grown to really appreciate what she does and how she does it, I’ve become a really big fan of hers….I really feel her to be such an amazing artist! I do need to listen to more of her stuff, I’ve only really listened to a few of her Queen Speeches (my favorite’s being 3, 4, 5, 6 & 7) as well as her song Black Panther, I love that song! I’ve been meaning to really listen to her newer stuff though, the only recent one that I’ve heard from her is Brenda, but I think that was just a freestyle that she did on her Youtube Channel other than that I’ve not heard any other tracks from her, which I know I need to!
I always have it in my head to listen to them, but I haven’t gotten around to it yet, but I will!
Lady Leshurr is one of the best UK Grime artists I’ve ever listened to! I do have a few other favorite artists in Grime that I like, but she’s one of my top favorites and I would definitely recommend anyone that’s looking for new music or is just looking for something new to experience to check her out! While you’re doing that definitely check out other Grime artists because I’m telling you, you won’t be disappointed, the only way you’ll be disappointed is if it’s just not your thing, that’s fine if it’s not, everyone likes different things, but if you are at least interested, give Lady Leshurr a listen as well as all the other Grime artists too, you’ll be in for a real treat!
P.S.
Seeing that we’re getting close to Halloween and going on about themes I wanted to share one of Lady Leshurr’s songs Queen Speech 6 one of my all time favorites, it’s got that Halloween vibe going in a way, I mean she released it on Halloween, she even says Happy Halloween in the song so in my book it’s considered Halloween like! She even dressed up for it in the video so go ahead and give it a listen, it’s a great song, you’ll get a kick out of it as you’re enjoying the song! If you want to check out her other stuff, all you got to do is keep listening to her, but yeah go over there and give her some support and love, she deserves it!
Goood Morning, hope you’re all having a good one so far! Today we’re going to finally get to the post that I’ve been meaning to get to, we’re going to be discussing one of my all time favorite artists Alexz Johnson and her latest album Still Alive! Now I’ve been doing a bit of thinking and by a bit of thinking I mean I literally just thought about this a minute ago as I’m writing this post…now the thought here is that I’m going to give my thoughts in a form of writing with each track we take a look at within the album in the best way that I can express them, because for some reason I feel like with this album, I can better explain it in writing then when verbally talking about it.
That being said, I still am going to give other thoughts on it in one of my podcast episodes, well I’m going to try to anyway, I want to express on this album in both a writing sense and as a podcast episode because I feel there’s just so much to this album that is hard to explain in just a few words, plus I thought writing my thoughts on the album would be better than listening to an hour long podcast so to save you all from that we’re going to focus on giving our best thoughts in a blog post instead lol!
When I first heard this song I actually didn’t really know how to describe this one, the first verse talks about about learning to let go of certain baggage’s, you know releasing all the things that we find hard to get rid of, be it emotionally, mentally things like that, as for the chorus I still don’t quite know what exactly it means, I felt like it could’ve been related to saving of a relationship in a way, but I’m still trying to figure out what it means, for the most part one of the messages in this song is in order to heal from past situations and just in general, you have to let them go so you have a better and clearer mindset/headspace….It’s a good song!
One of my favorites on the album, this one speaks of going on a journey full of adventure, moving forward, it’s also got a bit of self discovery to it! It’s also got a relationship feel to it, but it’s more rocky this time around, despite all those thoughts, it’s a pretty great song, the bridge is my favorite part she’s got some great vocals there which is why I like it, it’s simple, but still good, the whole songs great really!
This song is actually one that’s been revisited, as well as Chicago and apparently Saving The Train (which I didn’t actually know) and a couple more that we’ll get to, pretty much this whole album is filled with songs that have been revisited and done differently then it’s original counter part except for maybe 4 songs some are new ones, but Running With The Devil, this one at one point I wasn’t the biggest fan of when I heard the very first version, I didn’t hate it, there was nothing wrong with it, it was just one of those songs that I never listened to that much,
That was until this album came out, now it’s one that is probably one of my if not favorites than most liked, I listen to it more now than I did the original…..there’s a lot that you can take from this song, for me I felt this song to be about facing inner demons, you know like when you just got a lot going on, but you don’t really express on it, it’s also got a hope feeling to it, there’s so much to this song that is just hard to explain so just listen to it and maybe it’ll make better sense, but this is a good song and is worth checking out!
Yes that’s how color is meant to be spelled, I’m not trying to be fancy, it’s literally how it’s written on the album and in the UK so it’s right okay! Now that that’s settled…..I flipping love this song, it’s different to what I’m used to from Alexz, but I love it, it’s got a retro vibe going with it, it’s got a groovy sound, it’s such a great song, it’s all about living in the moment of things and just enjoying yourself in whatever you do…..there’s more I’m going to say with it, but later, just know it’s a good one, you might have to listen to it a few times to get into it, but it’s so worth it!
Mambo #5….okay not really, but we are taking a look at track 5 which has got to be one of my all time favorite songs off this album and that song is….. Still Alive:
This is probably one of the best songs off this album it’s soooo good, super emotional of course, she wrote this in tribute to her sister that had passed away from Cancer, it’s just such a beautiful, beautiful song, everyone just needs to give it a listen and check it out for yourself….I’m telling you, you’ll love it!
This is a good song, I don’t really know how to describe it, but it’s good, I did say this has a feeling about speaking your truth, it’s the only way I knew how to best describe the song, it might have a completely different meaning to it then what I thought it to be, also this is another revisited song that she did, but give this one a listen see what you think!
This song is different to the one I know, which by that you can probably guess it’s revisited and you’d be right, I remember hearing this version for the first time and just not being used it, I’ve listened to the original so many times, I mean it’s one of my all time favorites and to hear this one, I didn’t know what to expect, which version do I like better!? Both I love the original and really like this version too, I do have to say that some things with it haven’t changed, while other things did! So you’re still getting some of the original listen with it, but you also get something new at the same time which is a nice balance, like they both maybe different in a sense of arrangements and swapped lyrics here and there, but they’re still both great in their own way so I’m with it and I hope you guys give both versions a listen, I love this song!
Second to last revisited song, Swallowed is an interesting song, the best way I was able to describe this song is similar to what anxiety and paranoia might feel like and I’m only saying that because of the lyrics, when you listen to it, you might sense a worry of many things, so like when she’s singing the lyrics it can sound like she’s having a bit of an overthinking moment happening, however when the chorus kicks in, it fades away, like I said it’s very interesting that for me it’s hard to really put words to it, my interpretation might now actually be what it means, but then again it is my interpretation of it, it’s going to mean something different to everyone, but nonetheless, it’s a pretty nice song and deserves to be listened to!
3rd to to last song, which is track 9 we have a very good song in…..No Shame :
I LOVE THIS SONG! It’s got such an upbeat chill vibe to it to where you just can’t help, but get into the groove of it, I can’t explain this one, just listen it, the lyrics literally speak for themselves, just by hearing the song….you’ll understand why it’s called No Shame, like Alexz knows what she wants with this song, but the way she does it, is clever, it’s tempting this song and I’m HERE for it!
Yaaaay I love talking about this one, I present to you my other favorite song, track 10…..Golden:
This is the other emotional song besides Still Alive, this song is so beautiful and breathtaking, her vocals are just heaven here, literally she’s got sooo much soul in this song and the best part about is it’s for her Daughter, need I say anymore!? I love it, it just leaves you in tears and fills your heart up, this song is literally Golden point blank, seriously listen to it you’ll fall in love with it, I promise, I always get happy when this song comes on, whether I’m sad, happy, just not feeling the day, the minute this song comes on…..my emotions and feelings don’t matter, they don’t exist, all that exist is this song and Alexz Johnson’s vocals with it and that’s the truth!
Last, but certainly not least…..we have the last revisited song on the album and last song of the album…..Weight:
Can I say favorite!? Cause it definitely is, it’s got a really nice message to it, it talks about feeling like you have so much going on like literal Weight that you’re carrying, feeling like you can’t ever catch a breath, but it also talks about not having to carry it all alone that when you need someone to take a bit of the load off, that they’re will always be someone there to be that support, at least that’s my interpretation of it anyway, I sometimes feel it’s got a bit of a different meaning going on with it, but I still feel like that’s what it can mean too! This ones a really good one, like I said it’s one of my favorites and I enjoy singing along to it when it comes on or to myself at times, it’s just that good!
Final Thoughts!?
Listen to the album, take in her beautiful powerful soothing voice, enjoy the lyrics and just bask it in man, it’s definitely one of her best albums, along with A Stranger Time, that was a good album, but Still Alive there’s just something about it that I can’t explain, maybe it’s just Alexz, every time she drops a new album or a song, I love it instantly, I’m probably being bias here, because she’s one of my favorite artist, but she never makes a bad song, even with the songs I don’t really listen to often, I still don’t think of them as bad, sometimes you just have certain songs you prefer more over the others, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they’re bad, they’re just not ones that are often listened to, this album though is just *chef kiss* beautiful, I think most of you will enjoy it, but that is all my thought for the album, definitely check it out!
P.S.
It’s still May so the anniversary of it still counts, so with that Happy 1 year anniversary Still Alive, I love you!
Confused aren’t you!? Yeah I figured I mean who writes that as a title….apparently this girl here! Now I’m not going to ask any why questions, because then it’ll just bring down the mood of things, what I’m going to do instead is try my best to turn it in a way, you might be thinking to yourself what I mean on that…..let me just state that I don’t really know myself I’m just going to go with it here! We have the word Why as our theme and we’re wondering what’s going on with it, well they’re both starter titles of two songs that ended up in my head, one of the songs that started my day was Sabrina Carpenter’s song Why which is one of my favorites by the way, I woke up singing it myself this morning for some random odd reason, didn’t question it, I just simply went with it while it was hanging about.
Then we have the song Why So Serious by Alice Merton, which I just found out is a UK artist a bit of moment ago when I looked up the meaning to the song, because it got stuck in my head, I mean I did listen to it a bit earlier today which could be the reasoning for that, but I also was listening to other songs which means either one of those songs could’ve gotten stuck in my head, but nope just this song so far, not that I’m bothered, I actually really like the song, I was just curious to what it actually meant and I found out what it meant and then I laughed and smiled to myself because it’s meaning is something that is hard for me to get passed, not in a bad way, just more on the sense of taking it as advice in a way, pretty much the song is all about trying to take life less seriously, which is something I always tend to have a bit of an issue with, I do try, but there are times when my mind gets the better of me and makes me worry about the smallest things that I know aren’t necessarily a big thing….it’s just how my mind is okay!
That aside, I like the song, both songs actually, but Why So Serious by Alice Merton is really good song, I just finished discuss a bit about it on my new episode of my podcast, yeah that podcast that I keep mentioning here and there, just to remind you guys in case you want to check it out, speaking of reminders this song is actually written as a reminder for Alice like, she wrote the song as a note for herself, I won’t get too much into because I actually spoke about it in my recent episode, even though I already kind of told you it’s meaning there still is a little bit more too it, not too much, but a bit and I actually think it’s pretty cool how she chooses to go about writing her songs….
I know that obviously everyone writes from personal experience and everything, I mean I like to think that every kind of music has something personal about it….whether it’s by lyrics or just instrumental wise, you can tell a whole lot on what someone is trying to say with an instrument, sure there aren’t any words to interpret it’s meaning and emotion, but if you really listen to an instrument at times you can just feel what it’s trying to communicate, sometimes without realizing it, it can catch you off guard, but I guess we can save that one for another time, because that’s not what this post is about is it!? I mean it can be, but I think I’ll save it for later, I didn’t quite expect it to go that deep there…..but you can always feel what an artist is saying with how well they express through their lyrics and I always love hearing it,
Sometimes it’s one of the best ways you can relate to and Why So Serious is one of those songs that I find myself connecting to a bit, plus you got to love it’s groovy electropop sound to it….I just found out she in the electropop genre, which is pretty cool, I only have one rule with music, I just gotta like it and it has to make sense so I guess that’s two!? As long as I feel the song and connect to it or just enjoy it in general I’m perfectly fine with it and I like Alice Merton, so far, she’s a pretty good artist…..same goes for Sabrina Carpenter she’s got some good songs too and she’s a good actress as well, definitely recommend checking them both out if you never heard of them before or are just curious!
PROMO TIME:
Seriously guys, I get really weird doing this, believe me okay….but I just uploaded a new episode to my podcast talking about Alice Merton and her song Why So Serious as well as some other things so if you want to check that out you can find the episode here: Now Playing…..Why So Serious by Alice Merton on Anchor where I normally record and it’s also on Spotify along with all the other episodes I’ve done *hint, hint* but yeah, check it out if you get curious, alright promo over!
Good Afternoon, hope everyone’s doing alright! Now before I actually get to this topic, I’m not exactly sure if I already had a look at this song and spoke upon it, I just wanted to give thoughts to the lyrics and express my thoughts on the possible meaning in my own words of it…..if I already did talk on it sorry if this is a repeat, but if not then cool! Now onto the topic of today…..
Artist: Twenty One Pilots
Song: Car Radio
Album: Vessel
Why are we talking about this song today!? Well truth is…..I just wanted to look at the lyrics of it honestly and see if I can do a proper review on it, in a sense….now just to put this out there in case some of you that do read my posts are reading this now or maybe some of you have just discovered my blog site…..I know I already talked about Twenty One Pilots and I expressed how I’m not a HUGE fan of them, in a sense of I don’t really keep up with them, I do like some of their songs though and I think they’re very talented artists, even though I may not know too much about them, I still enjoy some of the music that they bring to their fans! I also like to think of them as very nice people which I’m sure they are!
Now on to the song that is Car Radio…..I can’t really say when I first heard this song and where I was when I heard it for the very first time, but I do remember hearing for the first time and watching the music video to it if that makes sense!? I can remember watching it on the tv somewhere and seeing Tyler, I believe his name is and him being in a….what looked like a red room on the floor and then randomly jammin’ it out on stage alongside his drummer and friend Josh. That is the best way I can describe ever encountering the song, now when we think of the lyrics or look at the lyrics, there’s a lot of deep meaning obviously to it…..you really feel each emotion that he brings to the song, to highlight a few of the lyrics, first you got the opening which reads:
” I ponder of something great, my lungs will fill and then deflate, they fill with fire, exhale desire, I know it’s dire my time today….I have these thoughts so often I ought, to replace that slot with what I once bought, cause somebody stole my car radio and now I just sit in silence…”
and then the one line I want to add is…..
“Sometimes quiet is violent”
Now with those lines alone, you obviously can see the frustration, well what I would call frustration anyway…that Tyler is delivering here, we all know the whole feeling of becoming hopeful and excited by something and then feeling like you have to dim it down because maybe in the moment, it can feel a little too good to be true right!? Now there’s that line of pondering, where you’re feeling yourself thinking about things a little too much then you probably should, mash that with the line “Sometimes quiet is violent” and you’ll soon find yourself just caught in this moment of just overly thinking, now you’re feeling overwhelmed, you don’t know what to do with yourself and you’re trying everything and anything just to get yourself out of that thought mode…..now we come to the lines that read:
“I’m forced to deal with what I feel, there is no distraction to mask what is real”
This line alone, first let me just say, is probably one of my favorite lines in this song, because it just without warning drops a whole lyric that makes you take a moment to come to the realization of, no matter how much we try and keep our minds distracted from all the worries, doubts, fears, whatever we’re stressing ourselves out about and pretty much says that not even music can be a distraction to what we’re feeling in the current moment that we’re feeling it and it’s a bit odd because a lot of the time we listen to music to escape or just because we love listening to it, but if you really think about it, we tend to only hear a song and sing along to it if we know it or it’s a favorite of ours,
Only do we truly listen to a songs lyrics….when we’re in the state of mind of feeling a certain emotion, if you notice it’s not until we’re feeling a bit crappy or just not having the best of days to where we really hear the lyrics of song, I mean it doesn’t necessarily have to be when you’re feeling low, it could be when you’re happy as well, but a lot of the time we pay attention to the lyrics when the day just feels off…..why is that!? It’s kind of like your ears just know the right moment to listen, the only time we actually truly listen to the lyrics of a song beside on a not so great day, is when we’re listening to it for the very first time, after that we already know the song, we’ll sing to it, do a little dance and just pretty much hear it from then on….we don’t listen to it until a random time calls for it, which is really weird…..
I guess in a sense, maybe we don’t always listen to the lyrics closely because in the moment we don’t need to, we just enjoy it, but it’s when we’re “in our feelings” so to say and I mean that more on the term of just in general, when our minds are becoming to feel as though it’s on an overload setting….where music just knows what it is we need, sometimes we need to force ourselves to deal with sitting in silence and dealing with whatever it is that keeps clouding our minds and trying to get through the issue that we keep trying to avoid and procrastinate on, which is why you’ll find some songs tend to come on more regarding that feeling if that makes sense!?
Like you have different categories for each emotion, guess that’s why we keep making playlists! That aside, Car Radio is literally the song to play when you know how you’re feeling and you just need to allow those feelings to take place as they’re happening, because sometimes that literally all you can do, play a song let it say how you’re feeling and hope that it does it’s job and helps you to feel a bit better in getting whatever it is you needed to get out….out!
Now I know there’s a lot more to the lyrics of Car Radio, but I actually feel I’ve said what I wanted to say with certain lyrics, I also feel like I already discussed on the second verse of this song in one of my old posts can’t tell you if it was the one on Twenty One Pilots or one of my entry post where I would just write on my thoughts, but I feel I brought that up already and so I think I’ve said what I felt I needed to say in a sense to these lyrics, I didn’t know where this was going to go I was just hoping it would make sense as I was going along with it, I just wanted to talk a little on it!
I really love the lyrics to this song, it’s got so much depth to it and it’s like what you expect it to be, it doesn’t give you any idea of being something else then what you see it as, it’s literally just saying “this is me, this is what I’ve been feeling, here you go” this song is not afraid of showing it’s vulnerable and real authentic side here and that is what I love and appreciate about it, It’s one of my favorite songs by the duo and I just love everything about it, it gives you a lot to feel to where you just resonate with it…..if it’s your kind of thing anyway, everyone’s different!
That’s pretty much it, hope you all are enjoying yourselves today!
P.S.
There’s two different versions of this song, I just found that out recently, I’m sure most of you already know about it though, I just thought it was cool!

Goooood Afternoon!! Hope everyone’s week is starting off well and that all your weekend’s were nice and enjoyable, hope you all are doing well too….now normally when I do these Now Playing….(Insert song or album here) posts we talk about a specific song and it’s meaning or we look at an album to a favorite artist of mine and give thoughts on the album…..today it’s going to be a liiiittle different, not extremely, it will still be at the core of it’s true heart, discussing music and all that jazz, only this time we’ll be focusing on two lyrics within the same section of the song, to put it in better words…..we’re going to be taking a look at the bridge part of this song….why!?
Well, I woke up singing this part of the song to myself this morning, as it still continues throughout the day and had some thoughts come through with it so that’s what we’re doing today, plus I feel like this will be a fun challenge of some sort to try for myself and see what comes with it!! Now I want to say this isn’t going to be a lyric breakdown, but I’m not sure how true that is so let’s not say that at all….even though I just did….on with the song yeah!?
Now if you were to hear the song as whole and listen to each lyric, you might not know right away it’s true meaning or you may know what it means or at least what it’s trying to say, as we know everyone has their own interpretation when it comes to music, artwork, even life itself, but that’s what keeps things interesting, knowing that everyone sees and hears things differently, if we all heard and saw things the same we wouldn’t have things like miss heard lyrics to laugh at, I love it when people interpret a song lyric that’s different to what it’s actually, it makes for a fun time getting to hear all the different things being heard
Although I do also get a little upset when lyrics are sung wrong, purposely mainly, not all the time, but if you sing a song and happen to sing a part of the lyrics wrong, 9/10 I’m there like “what are you doing, that’s not how the song goes” I’ll then sing the actual lyrics so you know how it’s meant to go, now if you didn’t know and you were just singing the song to what you thought it said, then I won’t bother with you too much….I will not, not bother you, because I’ll still want you to know it’s actual sayings, however I’ll be light hearted about it and laugh at it, call it the perfectionist in me okay…I mainly tend to do this most with music, because I love lyrics so much and so I get a little over protective of it…..
That being said I too have a little fun with messing lyrics up on purpose at times, not always, just when I want to mess with someone or just to make myself laugh….so I’m not one to talk…..now that we’ve gone and discussed that, let’s get to the actual post here, otherwise I’m going to have to change the title of this post to how I feel about miss heard lyrics…maybe we’ll make it a bonus post!
First lyric of the bridge that we’re going to be talking about is the line “Whatever chains is holding you back, holding you back, don’t let ’em tie you down”Now this line is quite obvious to what it’s saying, it’s talking about chains and the weight of them, it’s more metaphorically than literal, but these lyrics to me are expressing a form of overcoming and that could be of anything really, it doesn’t necessarily have to refer to something specific, it’s more of a reassurance that no matter how much things tend to get or how difficult something maybe to pull through, we don’t need to let the chains of what is holding us bound (figuratively) keep us at that low point!
Whenever there’s a will, there is always a way, even when in the moment it doesn’t seem/feel like it, sometimes we just need to think outside the box, as well as look at things from a different perspective to try and see it, even if that means literally going upside (Big Hero 6 reference) there’ll be moments where it may take a while, but it all comes down to just having hope and faith that it’ll be alright in the end!!
Moving on to the next part of the bridge, where we look at the lyrics reading “Whatever change is holding you back, holding you back, tell me you believe in that!? Now I remember listening to this song one time, really listening to the lyrics, all while singing along of course and I remember hearing this line and feeling a little realization, probably because I had just understood the lyrics, well this one at least and was pretty amazed by it!
When you hear the line, there’s a lot of things you might make from it, for me I felt the meaning to be of embracing something, embracing change….for a lot of us, change is a very hard thing, for a very long time I saw as a hard thing myself, still probably do if I’m being honest! The only difference to it now is, I’ve been learning to be okay with allowing things to change in the way that it feels the need to go, revisiting the lines “Whatever change is holding you back, holding you back, tell me you believe in that!?” Whenever Harry sings this line….it’s like he’s pleading with you to feel it….and what I mean by that is, he’s asking you to believe in that change, don’t run from it!
We all get scared when it comes to something that’s new, something we’ve never seen before or felt even and because of those feelings instead of embracing it as we’re meant to…..we run away, even when that something maybe good for us!! We run away out of fear, but not only that, we run out of defense, some of us are very guarded so when it comes to any sort of change we keep it at an arms length reach, however we don’t reach for it to see where it may lead and that’s the thing that hold us back, like the lyric repeats…..it’s not until we dig deep do we realize that maybe the reason we keep running or avoiding change is because we believe in it, in a way “Tell me you believe in that!?”
Tell me, you believe this thing that you’re trying to keep away from….it’s because we believe in the things that we do to why we get scared, why we choose to go the other way instead of just seeing what could be of it!! Here’s the thing though when we believe in something strongly no matter what we do, it’s always going to find a way to us even when we don’t want it to, you can’t run from something that’s chooses to be around, it always finds a way to get you to notice and sooner or later, you find that you do notice!!
Change is an inevitable thing it’s going to happen regardless to how we feel with it, but it doesn’t need to be something that we turn away from all together, we can be scared about it, but we have to trust that whatever happens that it’s going to bring us somewhere nice and somewhere it sees best for us that stuff being things we don’t quite see, but what we feel inside as individuals, we never know what path we’re going to take in life until we’ve gotten there ourselves, maybe not always completely, but we’re always lead in the right direction even when we don’t know it….in each of our journey’s we have something we are holding on to, something that gives us some kind of hope and with that hope we’re feeling something…..we’re believing and are trusting that whatever and wherever our journey’s lead, it’ll all be good, we just got to believe it!!
Now whose to know if that’s exactly what that part of the song means, it might mean something completely different to my interpretation of it, I might have to ask One Direction what the inspiration was behind this song or maybe I’ll just go with my interpretation of it, either way it’s got a meaning!! What’s your take on the lyrics!?
I heard this song for the very first time in a very long time yesterday and I forgot just how good this song is, it used to be one of my favorites to listen to, I hadn’t heard it in a while, but i’m glad that I was curious enough to revisit it and hear it again!! Kacey delivers this song so beautifully, I mean she literally takes her time to sing every lyric of the song going with the theme of it very well, I listened to it about 3 times today in one sitting within the same hour…seriously the lyrics are probably one of my favorites and i’ve listened to a lot of songs, if you asked me to name my top five favorite songs with the best lyrics this would probably be in the top five, it’d be pretty high on a list anyway!
Now i’m going to be honest here…..i’ve not really heard a lot of Kacey Musgraves songs, i’ve only heard a hand full of her songs, but she’s got a very unique voice and the songs that I have heard are really good, Follow Your Arrow, Rainbow, I even love her version of All Is Found from the Frozen 2 soundtrack, I like it a lot actually, Slow burn though, there’s just something about that song, I remember when I first heard it and in the moment I thought “I can really feel these lyrics” like I felt some kind of connection with them and I would listen to it constantly, I just felt it spoke volumes, if you’ve ever heard it you’ll understand what I mean by that!
If you never heard it before and you decide to give it a listen, you’ll find it right away, this song is literally about enjoying things at a slower pace, taking things in as they come and being okay with being a bit of a slow burner, I consider myself to be that as well if i’m being honest here, if you really think about it….this song is quite fitting with where we all are in life at the moment with the pandemic still going on, it’s not all the way done and it’s not going to be all the way done for a good while, but in some cases it’s getting there, but in others it’s still got a long way to go…..but that aside
This song is a really nice song to sit back and relax to, especially when you feel things starting to become a little overwhelming within the day or week even, it gives you a bit of a reminder that it’s alright to slow things down a bit if you you need to and tells you to embrace taking your time more with things and acknowledge small things around you!!
It’s even got it’s own witty and fun lyrics to it, one of my favorites being the opening line “Born in a hurry, always late, haven’t been early since 88′ I love that line, it’s like she’s making light of herself saying the last time she was early to anything was when she was born and now she just always running late for everything, I like songs like that, where the artist make slight fun of themselves, because their giving you a side to them that they probably don’t share often so when they add those little moments they’re letting you in on a secret part of them which is nice!!
You don’t always get that from artists, so when you do you feel like you’re apart of something which is one of the best feelings you can have……but Slow Burn is just a really nice song, Kacey really does perform it well and whether I listen to it all the time or every so often I think it’ll always be one of favorites to look for, hit play and just enjoy it, possibly along side some coffee, tea or while in nature, it goes well with that!!
If you’re into giving it a listen you can listen to it here: Slow Burn you can also search it up on Youtube or any other music streaming platforms that you have, you might even have the CD which works too, whatever you have do give it a listen it’s worth it!!
Well we just went and reviewed the movie part to this, now we move on to the soundtrack, which is something i’m not sure how to feel about, there aren’t a lot of songs here to get through, so I know this won’t be a long post which is good, but even though I recently just watched this movie, the songs are going to be an interesting part to cover, now i’ll be having a re listen to the songs in a moment so I could write out my thoughts on them properly, once i’m done the review shall start…..see you in bit…..
*Music Break Time*
Back with my thoughts, it took a little long, not too long, I just had to re listen to a few songs, once wasn’t enough, but let’s get to the review of these songs shall we!?
First up…..my least favorite of the soundtrack….Gonna Shine:
What can I say about this song…..I still very much don’t like it, the start of it before the song actually played, with Sharpay (Ashley Tisdale) singing……it’s just soo bad, the lyrics I just find them to be very cringe to the face, like they’re so simple, but not in the best kind of way if that makes sense!? It’s so bad that it made me laugh, like I didn’t know what else to do…..I mean there’s always that something that you know is pretty bad and you just can’t help, but laugh because that’s just your natural reaction to put it behind you quickly and yeah this song to me is like that, I didn’t like it before and listening to it again…..still don’t like it now!!
Sorry…..
On to a bit of a better song of the movie, next up Me & My Boi:
This was too cute to not put, it’s a scene from the movie
Now when I watched the movie, I thought this song was going to be like Gonna Shine where I didn’t like and then I heard it and I was like “awww it not that bad” listening to the soundtrack and hearing it again…..it’s grown on me pretty quickly to the point where it’s now my new favorite song from the movie, it’s kinda one of those songs that you can’t help, but not to love, it’s just too cute and adorable, it’s very upbeat and not going to lie, the feeling of it makes me both want to smile and get emotional over, it makes me miss my dog,
but I won’t get too emotional, it just the kind of song that reminds me of her that’s all, plus Sharpay’s dog is literally the same breed to my dog, just a boy version of her and the dogs in this movie are adorable and I always get emotional with cute things….i’m that kind of person….but this is just a harmless cute song, that I now love and Ashley Tisdale a.k.a Sharpay Evans sang it beautifully!!
Same song, different version, but titled Me & My Girl instead of Boi: I don’t like this version, it’s too poppy for my liking, it’s got it’s fair share of charms to it and the singer, sings it fine, the voice to it is nice, but I just feel as though it doesn’t have much else going for it than that, plus I just prefer Ashley’s version over this one, it’s got more character, the interaction were there, it gave more emotion and expression, like you feel vibe of it more than this one and it’s just the better version, again nice voice, but you can have and keep it thank you!!
Now…..this is the last song I want to talk about…..but I have to because it was in the movie, also I went in the order of the songs appearance, the soundtrack started with the order and then didn’t for some reason…..but 4th song on the list……Baby, however there’s a catch it’s Lucas Grabeel’s version and not Justin Biebers so that helps a bit, anyway….Baby :
Let’s talk about it…..now I might’ve missed judged the song, but this one still makes me go “hmmm..yea..mm…no still….no” now I will say this Lucas to me sings it better than Justin, but I still can’t and will not get behind this one sorry…..it was very charming, I appreciate how he put his own spin to it and tried to make it his own……but I just cannot with this song, not even him calling out himself and doing the rap of it could make me like, thought it was a cute thing, it made me laugh and go “he did not just do that” yes he did by the way, but as much as I like Lucas Grabeel and him as Ryan Evans in High School Musical, that will always be one of his iconic roles to me, but yeah….noo…sorry Lucas, love you though!!
Lucas Grabeel’s Version Of Baby was for these two cuties
2 more to go, next one of my FAVORITE songs from this movie, it doesn’t need any introduction, but I shall give it one anyway because I love it so much, New York’s Best Kept Secret: I didn’t even write anything for it at first because I was just enjoying it, I had to hear it first before anything, I just feel this to be one of the best songs in this movie, with Me and My Boi at a close second and the next song to be talked on in a short moment in third, they’re actually the only 3 songs I like on here, but back to this gem of a song!!
It’s just so good, everything about it from the lyrics, to the musical arrangements, EVERYTHING, just fits so perfectly together, not to mention Ashley’s incredible voice in this song, always give me chills and the bridge of the song will forever be my favorite, I just love it so much!!
P.S. this song reminds gives me Suddenly vibes, it’s the name of one of Ashley’s song from her album Headstrong
Last, but definitely not least, promise, we have The Rest Of My Life: Now this may not be an all time favorite of mine, buuut I do really like this, it ranks 3rd on my list, it’s very catchy, I really prefer the lyrics to this one over Gonna Shine, I feel like even though the starter song didn’t quite get my attention, this song makes up for that, it grabs you gently and invites you to just have a good time and enjoy yourself, while Gonna Shine kinda felt like a forceful pull to get you to dance when it knew that you weren’t feeling it in the moment…..this song though made you naturally just want to join in the festivities and I like that!! It’s a good song and again Ashley is good talent!!
3/6 is the amount of songs I like from this movie, 50/50 that that bad, it was almost 2/6, but Me & My Boi (Ashley’s version) tied it up definitely worth it, but that’s my thoughts on the soundtrack!! It’s a pretty decent soundtrack, it’s got it’s good songs and it’s not so good ones, but it’s alright!!
That’s everything I have to say with this album, let me know if you’ve ever watched this movie and if so what’s your favorite song from it!? Hope you guys enjoy the rest of your weekend and hope your week starts off on a good not and continues to stay that way!!
Before we get to this review I just wanted to quickly brief some things the reason I didn’t post this right after I finished my review is because I felt it was a little long with both updates I have going on right now,
I wrote the intro two days ago, but I didn’t hear the album until yesterday, the intro explains why, my mood has kinda been a weird one lately, but I did go and re listen to Symptoms and wrote all my thoughts about it after the second listen of it, I just wanted to shorten the length of this post and not have two things going on, hopefully it’s still not too long with this little update disclaimer, before we move on I just want to say that not a lots changed with my thoughts about it, only one thing, but it’s good so don’t worry…..not that you are i’m sure…..anyway let’s get to it shall we!?
May 12 2020 around 4pm in the afternoon
Okay so i’m about to re listen to Symptoms and re share my thoughts about it since my first listen of it, which was only a week ago actually, which is odd because it feels a lot longer than a week, I don’t know why!? Now i’ll be a little honest…….i’ve kinda sorta, have been putting it off, not because I don’t like it, but because I just haven’t been in the mode to sit and re hear it!!
The days I planned on re looking at it, I just wasn’t feeling it, so I would keep adding it towards a later date pushing it further and further back, but today we’re just going to do it, normally when listening to an album that i’ve gotten into or ones that I have on my listen to list that I feel I want to share and talk about, I like to record my reaction to it first and then give it at least a day to sink in before I write my thoughts on it as a post, it’s WAAAAY past a day as you already know……sorry about that…..but we are going to listen to it though and see if any of my thoughts went and changed within a week of the first listen of it, i’m excited to re hear it and get a refresher on it
Hopefully I still like the whole album, i’m sure I will, but opinions change so we’ll see!!
First song on the list…..which is the title of this album Symptoms:
Alright so here’s what I got on this song…..I felt it had a very nice chillness to it, I was feeling some emotions while listening a little, but that could’ve been some random ones trying to come up for all I know, but yeah,
There’s not too much to say on this one, the lyrics are good and so is the song….also remember when I said something changed a little from my first review of this album!? Yeah well this is what changed, when I first heard this song, I wasn’t sure how to feel about it, I knew I liked the song, but I didn’t know what to think of it at first, now i’m here to say that, it kinda feels like it could be a favorite…….probably need to hear it a third time,
before adding it to the definite list, that being said, i’ve also kinda set it out to be a favorite soooo……let’s just say……it is….but not definitely, definitely just yet, yeah!? okay glad we’ve discussed it!!
Next we have the runner up track of the album……Looking Glass
Have I set that up alright, did it make sense!? Hopefully it didn’t sound too cheesy, I know it might be a hit or miss there……i’ll take my chances….moving on though, okay so this song……..I love the grooviness of it and the lyrics are probably one of my favorites on this album, you just, you feel it……if I could describe it, i’d say it’s like a dance track, but it’s a very interesting song as well…..actually now that i’m thinking about it,
It sorta reminds me of another Ashley Tisdale song from her album Headstrong called Not Like That (which is one of my favorites off that album) because of the lyrics mainly, not comparing or anything, both songs are different of course, if you heard not like that and this song than you might hear it, but you might not as well, either way I really like this song,
my only thing with is…….I would’ve liked the beat to play by itself without some of the lyrics from the chorus finishing it off, only because I really like hearing the best, but that’s just a minor thing, when I heard it again, it really wasn’t that bad, so either way of it ending is fine, overall though the song is great, is it a favorite!? Kinda…..it’s the same as the first song, where it’s a favorite, but it’s not exactly on the favorite list, but also is…..
Let’s just say both Looking Glass and Symptoms are on the list…..they’re just written in pencil, but will soon be inked in the more I listen to them!!
In third place….no i’m kidding, the third track on this album is……Love Me and Let Me Go
Okay so this is probably one of what I would consider to be an interesting song to talk about, looking at the title you might think of it to be a specific thing, however when you hear it, you might find that it’s completely different to what you might’ve thought it to be……when I first heard this song, I felt it was a song written for herself as past tense or more like a letter to herself, but not at the same time, it’s hard to explain, but if you hear it, it might make sense, the second time hearing it though……
There was a song that actually came to mind when she was singing the lines “i’ve been chained up to my mind” and “tryna to leave it all behind” both from the first verse, however they have different lines to them, now at first I couldn’t quite put my finger on the song that it reminded me of, but after giving it a quick listen to it again…..I now know what it is…..it was a Matt Cardle song called When We Collide if you don’t know him he’s a great artist, he was actually on the X Factor (UK Version) great voice this one, but yeah this songs great, it’s actually one of my favorites,
but yes, Love Me and Let Me Go reminded me of that song, just with the way it was sung, he kinda does the same thing in the first verse of this song too and I just found it interesting that it reminded me of that, but back to the song we’re discussing off the Symptoms album it’s a great song, chorus is nice, the meaning with it is also pretty great, speaking of, I didn’t know what this song was actually about, I felt it was sung more towards herself, but when looking up the lyrics to get the lines to what I was talking about, I learned that,
I was correct in a way, it’s not a song towards herself per say, but to her Anxiety, which makes a whole lot of sense looking at it now and I gotta say I might just love it more, but even if I didn’t just find that out, I would’ve still said it was great and that I love it!!
On to one of my definite favorites on this album: Insomnia
Now I must note that when I realized this song was next when re listening to Symptoms, a smile came across my face, I LOVE THIS SONG!!!……LIKE LOVE IT!! it’s just soooo good this one, I mean if I had to describe it which I did when jotting down notes while listening to it……it’s quite subtle for one, definitely intimate, but not in the way where it’s too much, it’s the right kind okay!! There’s some temptation to it, but it’s not a bad temptation,
What I mean by that is, both the beat (music) and lyrics of the song just combined so well together, the beat does a great job at pulling you in and the lyrics just complement it sooo nicely, you know you’re getting a really nice meal with it, it’s great, I could try and explain it more, but i’m just going to tell you to listen to it, because it’s really great, after re hearing it,
I played it back about three times maybe before moving on the the next song that’s how much of a favorite of mine it is……..just…..beautiful!!
Moving on…..to track 5……Vibrations!!
Okay now just because the into of it is shorter than the others doesn’t mean that I didn’t like the song…….the same way I felt about it the first time, is the same way I feel about it now……it’s a pretty alright song, not a lot to say with it…..it’s one of those chill tracks, laying low and just enjoying the company of someone or maybe just your own company, which ever you prefer, but you can’t go wrong with a fun time and that’s what this song brings, I feel this might be a kind of soft spot kind of song, where it’s not a favorite per say, but I still can appreciate it for what it is and enjoy it at the same time!!
Track 6…….Under Pressure
Which happens to have some shorter thoughts to the one prior, which is just I love it!!…….seriously that’s all, it’s one of those relatable songs, that you feel once you hear the lyrics, the title really does say it all, but it’s a great song, but I really love about it though is, although the lyrics express on feeling under pressure, no pun intended……it also turns it around and makes it into a positive which is good……..so yeah, it’s good song!!
We’ve now reached track 7 or as I like to call it number SEVEEEEEEEN!! (if you watched my Jonas Brothers album review, you’ll get it!!) track 7…..True Romance
There’s a reason I say it like that, lately and don’t know why, but number 7 seems to be the number that just gets my emotions running because in my Jonas Brothers album review of Happiness Begins, number 7 was a favorite and had my emotions going a little and in this album review of Symptoms, number 7 happened to also get my emotions running and so i’m just accepting that it’s going to be like that with these kind of songs,
I’m not even going to express my thoughts on this one because it’s the same reaction I had when I first reviewed it, I still love it, the lyrics still get me and it’s still a favorite of mine and that’s a definite on that one!!!
Track 8……Voices In My Head
Now i’m sure most or if not some of you will remember that I gave my thoughts one this song around the time it was out for, if you haven’t you can find it here: Voices In My Head (Thoughts) because I heard this song, I wasn’t going in not knowing what to expect from it, like the other songs off the album when I first heard them, so re hearing it my reaction for it never changed, I actually love this song, it’s one of my favorite, I still listen to it from time to time and if I don’t……i’m most likely singing it to myself because it decided to get stuck in my head randomly on a certain day so yeah, but it’s great song, also very relatable and super catchy might I add!!
We’ve come to the last track of the album, track 9…..Feeling So Good!!
I actually don’t have that much to say about it…..when I first heard it I believe I had the same reaction, it a nice fun song, about feeling good and just enjoying yourself really……I did say that this could’ve been on the Happiness Begins album, because I could definitely see Joe, Nick and Kevin singing this song as well, maybe with Ashley, have them featured on it, you know…..just saying…….no, but seriously (hint, hint. wink. wink.)
Good song this one is, I feel like I heard some people in the background at the end of the song…..specifically Vanessa!? HSM cast cameo within the song!? others possibly, most likely…..who knows right!? Okay i’ll stop now, sometimes I just can’t help myself……
Final Thoughts:
Everything I said in my first reaction of it, I also said that I wish this album had more songs, because 9 wasn’t enough….still slightly feel that way with it, because I want to hear more Ashley Tisdale songs, but now i’m okay with what we got with the Symptoms album, there wasn’t one song that I didn’t like, which is good because that’s what I wanted originally and i’m glad that didn’t change in this second review of it!!
I really did enjoy re listening to it, Symptoms is a really great album, I love it and i’m looking forward to hearing more of Ashley Tisdale when we do, she really is a favorite of mine to both watch and listen to!!
That’s all for this album review, thank you for taking the time to read it if you did and I hope you truly enjoyed it, if you want to see my first reaction of when I first listened to it, you can find it here: Now Playing: Symptoms By Ashley Tisdale (Album Review) – First Reaction Review hope you all are doing well, staying safe and your days are going okay!!
Alright it’s now 5:50pm as i’m writing this close to 6pm, by the time I finish this post it might just be past both those times depends how long this post will both take me and be. I’m going to try and keep my thoughts for each song brief so this doesn’t take so long, so with that note let’s get straight into this album review shall we!?
As promised well more like stated in my last post, i’ve just finished listening to the Jonas Brothers latest album for a second time and well let’s just say my thoughts about it have both changed in a way, while also not changing at all, so I still feel the same about this album to when I first heard, but i’ve added a few more thoughts to the songs so let’s talk about it!!
Starting with Track 1: Sucker……
Alright so just like the first listen of this song and I mean first REAL listen of it (I did hear this around, but it wasn’t until I finally listened to the album to where I really sat and heard the whole song) non of my thoughts to this song have changed much, I still think it’s pretty catchy and I find it to be a pretty groovy song, the only thing i’d say that has changed with it is that when I first listened to it I wasn’t quite sure whether to add it as an automatic favorite of mine, but listening to it a second time……it might just be up there, I think I need a few more listens to have be decided officially though,
but yeah, it’s a pretty good song and I think it’s one you can’t really go wrong with, with it, you’re just having a good time, who doesn’t love that!?
Now moving on to Track 2: Coooool!! (I just wanted to add the extra O’s)
This song is exactly what the title of it says, Cool!! I love the chillness that it brings from start to finish, I thought the vocal’s in this one was really great and it’s just a really nice song to kick back to i’d say, also we should really inspire to be like ourselves when we grow up (just taking notes from Nick who suggested it in the song towards the end)
Now on to Track 3: Only Human(the one I always forget to mention the title of for some weird odd reason )
Don’t worry I remembered it this time, I don’t know why I always forget to say the name of the title, I always just jump right in and start talking about it, this time however I was aware!! Now let’s talk about this song a little…..this is my favorite track of this album at least one of my favorites anyway (first favorite) I wish I can explain this, but I just can’t, all I can say is that it’s just soooo good, like seriously just the best (to me anyway)
The second verse to this song is by far one of my favorites, just because of the way it’s brought to us, i’d quote it, but I think you should just listen to it, just so you can get a good taste of it for yourself, but I mean the whole song is great though, I just really love it, there’s just something about it, I can’t really explain so first recommended song to listen to is this one!!
Track 4: I Believe….
Now if there’s one thing to tell you about this song is……I believe, that it’s a very great track….yes I used the title to describe the song….you should’ve saw it coming and if you did, then i’m just really predicable aren’t I!?
Either way, this song is just beautiful, it’s just really good, it’s also another favorite of mine, so check it out, you might just like it as well!!
Track 5: Used To Be….
Okay we’ve come to this track, now when I first heard this song, I thought it to be good, still think it’s good, but after the second listen…..i’ve come to say that I feel this might be my least favorite on the album…..not because it’s a bad track, I just feel it’s the track i’m not going to listen to a lot, like i’m not gonna go out of my way to listen to it…..that was my first initial thought hearing it a second time, however another thought came in and i’m going to dub this song a mixed feeling type of song for me, it’s like I like it……
but I know it’s going to be the track that I skip a few times and then listen to out of the blue if that makes sense!? I might have to let it grow on me a bit, but besides everything I said, I still think it’s a great song overall, it’s deep, the lyrics to it are really great and I did get a few chills listening to it, but for now it’s my least favorite, however I still also like it as well (mixed feelings)
Track 6: Every Single Time….
I was gonna use the title of the song again to start off my thoughts, but I thought let’s not……this song it’s just has it’s own vibe to it, I can’t really explain it, but you feel it, you can’t put your finger on it, but you know it’s good, this is another groovy track also you really can appreciate Nick Jonas’s vocal’s in this song, it’s very interesting in the best kind of way!!
Track 7: Don’t Throw It Away….
I know this reads Track 7, but what it really should read is track seveeeen, that’s how I said it with my first listen of the song when sharing my thoughts, there might’ve been more E’s though……. XD but what can we say about this song though!? I don’t have a lot of words for it except for it’s soooo good, I love it and that it’s a favorite of mine…..that is all really!!
Apr 11, 2020(Continuation of this album review)
Alright so we stoped at Track 7 yesterday and we’ve got 7 more songs to talk about, I could’ve finished it yesterday, but I kinda just chilled out the rest of the night!! In a way though we’ve evened the songs out, anyway let’s continue on with this post, so far i’d say we’ve done a good job keeping it short and sweet so let’s see if we can keep it going for the next 7 songs!!
First song on the next day list, Track 8: Love Her…..
Well I LOVE this song i’ll tell you that for starters, my original thoughts with it haven’t really changed, it’s still a very sweet track and whenever I hear it, it gets me EVERY SINGLE TIME!! It’s just so great and it knows how to pull on your heartstrings seriously, I cry all the time, okay maybe not cry CRY,
but the waterworks do start forming when I hear it and I haven’t been hearing it a lot to be honest so I don’t know how it always gets me, I love it though and it’s still one of favorites off this album!!
On to Track 9: Happy When I’m Sad
I just sang this song to myself and i’m realizing just how catchy this one is…..here’s to hoping it doesn’t get stuck in my head the rest of the day, I already woke up singing one of their other songs…..luckily it was a favorite!!
Anyway….let’s talk track number 9, my original thoughts on this one haven’t changed really, still think it’s pretty great, when I first heard it, I actually thought I wasn’t going to like this one along with another song of theirs (not the one I said was my least favorite, but a different song that turned out to be my favorite)
The more I listened to it though, the more I actually thought it was a good song!! Now what you won’t know about this song is that, theres a bit of a hidden meaning with it, even though the track is disguised well with it’s poppy upbeat tone and is pretty danceable, it can be easy to overlook the lyrics of it even though the title is pretty much a dead giveaway…..that being said, this track does give you the best of both in terms of deep meaning and just having a song that you can enjoy and groove to from time to time!!
Track 10: Trust
I’m trying to think of words for this song…..I have it as a favorite, but every time I come up to it, I can never find words for it I think i’m going to re listen so I can try and put it to words properly……just a quick moment…..
Told you that was quick!! I remember it now (10:44am just finished) Even after hearing it, I still can’t really properly describe the song to you…..what I will say is that, it’s got some coolness to it, I guess if I had to give it a backstory, it’s a song that you’d probably add to your guilty pleasure playlist because when you hear the lyrics it’s pretty much like that anyway,
It gives off the feeling of knowing you shouldn’t like something, but you just can’t help yourself to like it at the same time……..so i’d say with this song, you’d need to check it out for yourself to understand it, but everything about this song is just amazing, I love it and it’s one of my favorites!!
Alright now that that’s done…..we will now make our way to Track 11: Strangers
Which is another song I don’t have much to say about, I didn’t have much to say when I first heard it and I still don’t have much to say on it now even after the second listen of it, all I can tell you is that I like it and that it’s a good song……that’s pretty much it……alright well moving on!!
We’ve got 3 more songs ahead, but I promise we’re flying through this review!! Number 12 on the track list is a song called……Hesitate:
Okay before we move ahead there’s 3 songs on this album that gave me different artist vibes, the first song was I Believe, which gave me Zayn Malik vibes, only because it reminded me of his song Let Me (at first I thought Borderz, but the song Let Me later came into my mind and I thought yeah that’s the song) This one gave me a more Harry Styles kind of vibe…..
Let me explain okay, i’m not just purposely adding One Direction members here alright!! It’s the writing style of it that reminds me of Harry, if any of you have ever listened to a Harry Styles record then you’ll see what I mean, but when I first heard this song, it was the first thing that came to mind for some reason, not saying the Jonas Brothers can’t write deep songs, they can,
but I heard it the first time and thought Harry Styles and when I heard it again I still thought Harry Styles writing, but One Direction members aside, I love this song, Nick, Kevin and Joe did a very great job on it, maybe it’s just similar writing styles to where I put the comparison on it, either way it’s a beautiful song, there’s a nice soft bridge in here and when I went to hear it the second time, I may have replayed it only to hear the bridge part,
I could’ve just heard the bridge part, but I ended up listening to the whole song again, but that shows you just how good the song is if you’re going back for a replay of it!! Also another song came to mind when I was re listening to it (no it has nothing to do with One Direction this time) what it does have to do with is the Jonas Brothers themselves and a song they sang
Back when they were playing themselves in a show called Jonas L.A. that song being Invisible, now it was only a small pick up I got, but I wanted to add that…..but yes, love the song, it’s a favorite!!
2 more to go….next up track 13……Rollercoaster
Alright so what can I say with this song……I had a lot of different thoughts about what this song is about, at first I thought “wait is this about their journey as a band” and then another thought came through where I thought ” wait is this a story about Kevin Jonas meeting his wife” i’m still figuring this one out as you can see, there’s just sooo many different things that this song can be about, but I don’t know, I also thought it might be a mixture of everything in one so maybe it’s that, I have a clue, but it’s good
Also this is the third song where I was picking up different artist vibes, but don’t worry it’s not all 1D related, this one I picked up on some Avicii vibes (R.I.P Avicii) as well as Selena Gomez when she did that song with Marshmallow called Wolves, but the more I listened to it the more I felt it to be more on the Avicii side of town in terms of how it sounds, it reminded me of the song Wake Me Up feat Aloe Blacc, I don’t know why, but it did…..
I’m thinking it might’ve just been the way the song was, when you hear it, it might make more sense, but other than that, the song is really good, really pretty and just full of feelings, like Nostalgia type feelings if you will, it’s a nice song though!!
Okay everyone we have now reached the end of this album review as well as the last track on the album, Track 14……Comeback
This track might leave you wondering at first to what it’s going to sound like, you might look at the title and think “oh this ones going to be pretty hard hitting isn’t it!?” but once you step into it and hit play……you’ll be surprised to know that it’s…..not far from it, but more not what you expected, when I first heard this song, I wasn’t sure what to expect with it,
I had something in mind to what I thought it’d sound like, but it turned out not sounding at all to what I was expecting it to, to be honest i’m not really quite sure what I was expecting from it now that i’m thinking about it really, however I didn’t think it’d deliver so calmly either when I listened to it for the first time soooo yeah…..I don’t know, but hearing it, I wanted to get emotional, but I didn’t at the same time if that makes sense!? It’s a really beautiful song, it’s another one that pulls at the heartstrings and it’s just an overall sweet and lovely song and I would recommend checking it out!!
We’ve done it, we’ve finally reached the end of this album and I gotta say I might just like this one better than my first thought review, because I got to really sit and think about it a bit more, but the first version wasn’t bad, that was just an after reaction trying my best to soak it all in, but this one is more analytical and broken down better, I like them both!!
Final Thoughts!?
I love this album, I love that my favorite band is back together again, i’m just overall Happy and over the moon about it!! I could say more, but I think my best reaction and final thoughts to it, is all within my first review on it, I say all that I think about it there so i’ll keep this final thought short and sweet, but not before saying one last thing……WELCOME BACK JONAS BROTHERS (A.K.A. THE ORIGINAL JB……YES I NEEDED TO SAY THAT)
no but, seriously, i’ve missed you guys and I can’t wait to see what else you guys got coming……alright that is all the review i’ve got, thank you so much for reading this post and just being here all together it truly means a lot!!
Signing out now……hope you all are having a good weekend and are keeping safe and well and I hope you’ve enjoyed this are doing okay!!
